Claudville Computer Center
Claudville, Virginia
In August 2009, the Claudville Computer Center became the Foundation’s first rural computer lab.
Located in southwest Virginia, along the border with North Carolina, Claudville is a rural community of approximately 900. Due to its sparse population and topography, Claudville lacks access to affordable broadband connectivity.
In October 2009, Claudville, Virginia became the first White Spaces Network in the United States. Through Spectrum Bridge, a TDF portfolio company, the Foundation has expanded broadband Internet access to the business district and a local school. Through the efforts of the TDF Foundation and all our fellow supporters in the community, the residents of Patrick County have a computer center where they may use the centers computers or connect their personal laptops to high speed internet access.
